If you really want a book deal, make it your #3 priority

Don't worry, I'm not going to tell you to make dumb things like "sleep" and "your sanity" priorities 1 and 2. There are actually more important things to do *as a writer.*

It’s my children’s spring break this week. We are at a beach house on the Gulf of Mexico, where I have just finished Bird by Bird, Anne Lamott’s classic writing guide. As it turns out, this book contains about 90% of the same points I’ve been making in this newsletter, only funnier, in copy-edited prose, and in a more convenient paperback format. OOPS!
